Our Teachers
Pearl Leung
Pearl is the founder and Principal of the school since the school opened in 2007. She is a trained primary school teacher with Montessori specialty.
Sallyann Thomas-Lane
Sallyann is the class teacher for the 5 to 12 year olds. She has been teaching for a total of 12 years although not all of it at Montessori. She began her teaching career in Spain teaching English and found she loved it so much that she trained to become a primary school teacher. She then taught in a small, private school in Lancashire for 4 years during which time she trained in Montessori education. She then taught at Pocklington Montessori School in Yorkshire. When she and her husband visited her sister in New Zealand in 2005 they fell in love with the country so they decided to move here and arrived at Christmas 2006!
While in her first teaching job she was always looking for ways to improve her teaching and came across Montessori. She became passionate about Montessori while doing the training and still feels that this system of education truly values the child and empowers them to be all they can be. She finds the children become so interested in learning with this method that they are totally inspired by it and want to learn more and more. Even the 5 year olds in the class come in letting her know what research project they wish to do!
