The Montessori Approach
This philosophy is applied through a scientifically-developed system that she and fellow educators continually tested and refined over 40 years under her leadership. In 2007, the Montessori system celebrates 100 years of maintained relevance and continued refinement. Those who studied using the Montessori system include:
Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founders of Google,
Jeffrey Bezos, founder of Amazon.com
Anne Frank, Author of the Diary of Anne Frank
Princes William and Harry, British Royal Family
The system assists children develop and educate themselves toward their revealed and growing potentials, in agreement with their own nature. It also follows the need for children to develop a balanced moral and social structure which recognizes both the needs of individuals and the group.
The Montessori system observes and assists the whole child develop. By recognizing, identifying and then fulfilling physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs, the spirit of each child can then motivate achievement in a variety of individually chosen goals, each in his/her own way.
A partnership among the child, the family, the school and the wider community provides the way the system underwrites success. Each child is guided, through this partnership, to be a responsible and active world citizen who enthusiastically seeks, defines and develops his or her full potential.
